Training & Experience
Dr Emily Ho is a psychiatrist who graduated with her basic medical degree from the National University of Singapore (NUS). Given her interest in complexity of the human mind and her approachable and patient nature, she subsequently specialised in Psychiatry and obtained her Masters in Medicine (Psychiatry) (Singapore).
She now practises in Mind Care Clinic at Farrer Park Hospital, where she delivers care in a setting designed for comfort and privacy. She believes that every patient’s journey through the clinic and hospital should be a reassuring and satisfactory experience.
She is fluent in English and Mandarin and various dialects including Hokkien, Teochew and Cantonese.
Dr Emily Ho was trained in a wide range of psychiatric subspecialties and is experienced in treating wide variety of conditions in youth, adults and the elderly. These include:
- Mood disorders such as Depression and Bipolar Disorder
- Anxiety and stress-related disorders
- Liaison psychiatry
- Women’s health
Specific areas of interest
Dr Emily Ho’s main area of interest and specialty is in treating dementia and mood disorders in the elderly. She believes in early intervention for better quality of life and ageing well in place in the community. She also believes in good planning for graceful ageing which include doing up the Lasting Power of Attorney. She has also led a team in elderly psychiatry, which specialises in designing individualized care plans that suits the unique needs of every elderly.
Beyond Clinical Care
Dr Emily Ho has years of experience in the National University Hospital (NUH) and the Institute of Mental Health(IMH). She was the Director of Clinical Services in NUH, and was active in improving the quality of care to the patients in her department. She hopes to make each visit a comforting and pleasant experience for all her patients.
She has received several awards for her efforts in Quality Improvement Projects (QIP). She has presented in multiple local and international conferences on the updates of services in psychiatry. She has also authored in books “Ageing in Singapore, the next 50 years” and “Mental Healthcare of the Elderly”.
