Experience

Janet graduated from the University of Western Australia with a Master in Psychology (Clinical). She is trained in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Schema Therapy, but also integrates other therapeutic approaches in her practice to tailor interventions for her clients.

Prior to joining MindCare, she had worked for over a decade in a variety of restructured and private settings, including the National Cancer Centre (NCC), the Singapore General Hospital (SGH), and the Nanyang Technological University (NTU). Whilst at NCC, she helped patients and their families prepare and cope with the numerous challenges and changes brought on by cancer and its treatments. During her time at SGH, she was part of a multi-disciplinary team treating eating disorders. In addition, she helped set up psychological services at the Young Adults with Diabetes (YAD) clinic.

Janet is also a firm believer in promoting employee well-being, as a large part of our lives is spent at work. In addition to her clinical work, she served as a committee member of SGH’s Peer Support Program, providing staff counseling and Critical Incident Stress Debriefing (CISD) for workplace incidents. At NTU, she managed the Employee Wellbeing Centre, helping clients manage work stress and providing talks.

Janet works with adolescents and adults on a wide range of issues including:

  • Psycho-oncology
  • Health psychology (e.g. diabetes distress)
  • Mood disorders
  • Eating disorders
  • Personality disorders
  • Trauma
  • Crisis management
  • Workplace stress
  • Marital difficulties

Janet is passionate about making a difference. As a clinical psychologist, she supports individuals to develop a better understanding of themselves, providing them with different perspectives, skills and tools to improve their wellbeing.
