Experience

Say Leong is a psychologist with more than a decade of experience working across primary care, public healthcare, and private hospital settings. He works with adolescents and adults experiencing a wide range of emotional, behavioural, and mental health difficulties.

He has a particular interest and extensive experience in addressing insomnia and sleep-related difficulties, as well as the psychological impact of acute and chronic health conditions. Drawing on his extensive healthcare experience, he has supported individuals in adjusting to significant health conditions and life-changing medical events, including stroke, spinal cord injury, amputation, and chronic illness.

He is particularly experienced in helping individuals who feel overwhelmed, emotionally exhausted, or uncertain about how to move forward, supporting them in navigating life’s challenges with greater clarity and confidence.

He provides individual psychological therapy for adolescents and adults experiencing:

  •  Mood and anxiety difficulties (e.g., depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, excessive worry, and panic symptoms)
  • Insomnia and sleep-related difficulties
  • Trauma, grief, loss, and adjustment difficulties associated with life transitions or acute and chronic health conditions
  • Obsessive-compulsive difficulties and other behavioural or lifestyle change challenges
  • Interpersonal, relationship and workplace difficulties
  • Existential concerns, meaning and purpose in life, and gender identity, sexuality, and LGBTQ+ related concerns
  • Psychosis and related psychological difficulties

In 2023, Say Leong was awarded the Health Manpower Development Plan (HMDP) Fellowship, funded by Singapore’s Ministry of Health (MOH), and underwent specialised training in the United Kingdom in the psychological care of individuals with complex rehabilitation needs.

Beyond his clinical work, Say Leong provides clinical supervision and mentorship to psychologists and has contributed to the establishment and development of psychology services across both public and private healthcare settings. He also regularly delivers professional training and mental health education programmes for healthcare professionals and the wider community.

He has also held various leadership roles within healthcare organisations, including serving as Chairperson of a hospital peer support programme, Co-Chairperson of a public hospital Staff Wellbeing Committee, and Chairperson of the Singapore Psychology Inter-Hospital Seminar. Through these roles, he has led staff wellbeing and peer support initiatives, and supported professional collaboration and knowledge exchange among psychologists across Singapore.
