Experience

Yingmin is a registered psychologist in Singapore and Australia. She has a range of experience working in both the public and private sector supporting clients across the lifespan. In the last couple of years, she has also taught as a sessional academic at Monash University, as she wishes to share her knowledge and contribute to the field of psychology.

With her previous experiences in the special education and early intervention field, Yingmin is well placed to provide recommendations for parents who seek guidance on their child’s educational pathway. She has conducted psychoeducation assessments for preschool children who require school readiness assessments. Additionally, she works in tandem with families to provide intervention for socio-emotional and behavioural concerns for children. Her approach in working with children/adolescents and their families includes discovering areas of strength within each individual. This helps in empowering clients and their families to adopt a strength-based approach to complement areas for further growth.

Beyond Yingmin’s experience working with children, she derives fulfilment when working with adolescents and adults in the midst of life exploration. This includes individuals who may be seeking assessments on Attention Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), as well as those keen to explore their career goals, identity formation and general well-being as part of preventive care. In therapy, Yingmin strives to deliver therapy that is responsive and personalised to her client’s needs. She achieves this by applying an eclectic blend of various evidence based skills and techniques that best suits her client’s circumstances.

Yingmin’s guiding philosophy when working with clients is “Everyone is doing the best that they can, with the resources they have”. This keeps her grounded in journeying along with her client as they learn, grow and heal in their own time. She holds the conviction that a strong therapeutic alliance is key to developing strategies that aligns with desired outcomes and looks forward to collaborating with her clients.
