Over the past 7 years, Zaylea has worked in both public hospitals and community settings with individual clients across the lifespan, from youths to middle-aged and older adults. Zaylea has extensive experience working with people experiencing stress, depression, anxiety, trauma, phobia, obsessions and compulsions, bipolar, personality disorders, relationship challenges, grief and loss, low self-esteem and more. Her expertise lies in tailoring a unique personalized and integrative therapeutic approach for each of her clients that include the following evidence-based modalities: Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Schema Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Mindfulness-based Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, and Emotion-Focused Therapy.

Zaylea also has specialized interest and expertise in caring for the psychological and neurocognitive health of older adults (60+ years old). She adopts a person-centred care approach to help older clients, their caregivers, and staff of nursing homes to manage late-life depression, anxiety, and other Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD). Zaylea is competent in conducting neuropsychological assessments in English, Mandarin and Hokkien to determine each client’s cognitive strengths and deficits in Mild Cognitive Impairment and dementia. With a keen passion to help clients protect their brain health and prevent cognitive deterioration, Zaylea had co-developed a Virtual Reality Cognitive Training program, in the capacity of a Principal Investigator with a local Med-Tech company, that was recognized by the Singhealth Innovation Practice award.

The foundation of any successful psychotherapy lies in the therapeutic relationship between the individual client and their psychologist. As your psychologist, Zaylea places utmost emphasis on building a safe, trusting and supportive therapeutic relationship to develop your psychological resilience and skills, and to care for your mental well-being.
